The Hypancistrus Sp. L129, also called Colombian zebra catfish.

The system of L-numbers originates from Germany. The system came about because a lot of catfish were caught but not yet officially named. The letter L stands for Loricariidae, the Latin name for armor catfish. When the fish is named in principle the L-number should expire. In practice however, the L-number is so well known that people just keep using it.

The L129 comes from the Rio Bita in Colombia. The print on the body of this fish can vary extremely. Young animals tend to be more brightly colored than older animals. They are about 12 cm, and may be kept in aquariums from approximately 80 cm. Moreover, they are not hard to keep at a temperature of 25 to 29 degrees Celsius and a pH of 7. In the aquarium they want a piece of wood to scrape on and to hide. If you feed them with both vegetable and fish food they can remain happy in the tank for years.
